Girlguiding UK wins People’s Choice award

Congratulations to the Girlguiding UK Centenary Garden,which won the People’s Choice for large garden.

The award (a special Dartington crystal vase) was presented bythe RHS to the garden’s designer, Philippa Pearson, ClaireRees and Elizabeth Maytom from the Girlguiding UK team.

Girlguiding UKmembers worked with designer Philippa Pearson to create the gardenthat celebrates 100 years of guiding. The plants and designhighlight the elements that members say make Girlguiding UK aunique and thriving organisation.

The garden explores modern guiding, and references the heritageof the organisation from its start at the Crystal Palace rally in1909. Traditional guiding activities are hinted at, including campsand international adventures, whilst the emphasis is on the viewsand opinions of today’s girls and young women.

Phillipa Pearson said: ‘It has been a real privilege to workwith Girlguiding UK, the garden and everyone in the organisationdeserve the Peoples Choice Award. This has been the most excitingand fun show garden I’ve created, it’s been a real team effort.Well done girls!’
